Miles Adult Family Homes – History
Cheryl and Del Miles once worked as aircraft painters at the Boeing plant in Everett. They enjoyed their jobs but decided they would like to own their own business. The couple moved to Yakima to be near family and continued to look for a business opportunity.
They purchased Covenant House in 2001 taking care of 4 residents who lived on main floor, while they lived upstairs. They went through extensive training, and education to receive their Adult Family Home certifications. They were determined to make the lives of their residents better. Cheryl says, “We enjoy making people happy, and treating people the way we’d like to be treated.”
Del and Cheryl purchased Lola Kay in 2003 driven by the demand for home living environments by families of elder parents. Lola Kay required a complete remodel in order to transform it into a warm and functioning Adult Family Home. In 2006, the Miles bought Izzy’s in West Yakima and made some minor adjustments to the house that was originally built as an Adult Family Home.
